Category Widget

The categories widget is useful for those of you who plan on taking advantage of the built-in “blogging” capabilities of WordPress. For the purposes of this lesson, we’ll assume that you’ve already been briefed on the differences between pages and posts.

Posts, unlike pages, can be assigned to a category. Each category link in the categories widget, when clicked on, will display an archive of all posts published under that category. The following video tutorial demonstrates how the categories widget can be modified or organized according to your preferences.

For even more customization, feel free to enable and play around with the Extended Category Widget plugin. It replaces the default category widget with a more advanced set of options and flexibility.
